Belly Dancing classes in Punchbowl

Beginners' and Beyond bellydance courses in Sydney's Canterbury / Bankstown area

Classes in Punchbowl run on Thursday nights in line with school terms. They are for women only, in a secure and private dance studio with plenty of free parking.

COVID notice: Currently all classes are on ZOOM instead due to lockdown, but we'll resume in the studio when possible.

New courses began in July 2021: It's not too late, join now!

All women are welcome.

Bellydance Fundamentals
Thursdays 6.45pm
This class is for absolute beginners or those with less than a year's bellydance class experience. It's also perfect for women who have danced socially but never taken formal classes.

Master all the key moves and building blocks of belly dance, such as shimmies, hip circles and more. Then explore how we combine moves into short sequences, and learn to "freestyle" dance. We will put it all together into a routine and you'll even have the chance to perform if you wish. Develop not only your co-ordination, but also memory, spatial awareness and more. If you already dance, you'll gain more control, grace, nuance and body awareness.

No experience is needed to participate. Classes are for women only (hijabi women welcome!) - this class is private and not live-streamed. We offer alternative options for Zoom classes.

The Fundamentals (Beginners) class regularly sells out well before the beginning of term, so register today to avoid missing out.

Bellydance Beyond Beginners
Thursdays 7.45pm
For students with at least a few terms of bellydance experience, who are confident with the basics and want to challenge themselves. Contact us to assess your level.
Each term has a different topic, such as more complex technique; props such as sword or cane; folkloric styles; musical interpretation and more. In Term 3 you get to explore the earthy Egyptian Saidi style. Develop power and presence as you dance with a stick or cane (assaya).

Term 4: Tuesday 5 October - Monday 13 December

Dates generally follow NSW Public School terms. All terms are 10 weeks unless otherwise stated. Classes continue to run on public holidays during term dates. If you're unable to make it, come to one of the other locations or Zoom in another night to catch up!
