CoVID SafeWant to learn bellydance in southern Sydney? This is our newest location, and we are so excited to be bringing our popular, tried and trusted belly dance format to "The Shire".

COVID notice: Currently all classes are on ZOOM instead due to lockdown, but we'll resume in the studio when possible.

New courses began in July 2021. It's not too late, join in now!

Belly Dancing is a gentle form of exercise that improves core strength, co-ordination, and even mood and self-image. It's enjoyed by women all over the world, regardless of age, fitness level, or cultural background.

Everyone who takes this class adores the instructor Laura! She is a warm and friendly teacher, and her classes are well structured, accessible and fun. You'll learn lots, and enjoy yourself too.

Bellydance Fundamentals (Beginners): Wednesdays 6.45pm
Learn or refine all the most important moves of bellydance such as shimmies, hip drops, figure 8s and much more. Then combine moves into short sequencesIf you already know these, we'll refine your skills and movement quality. Stay for Term 4 and we'll combine moves into short sequences, and put it all together into a routine. You'll even have the chance to perform if you wish.

Develop not only your co-ordination, but also memory, spatial awareness and more. No experience is needed, all women are welcome.

Beyond Beginners Bellydance): Wednesdays 7.45pm
Once you've been learning for about a year, you might be ready for this next level. Contact us to assess your level.
Each term has a different topic, such as more complex technique; props such as sword or cane; folkloric styles; musical interpretation and more. In Term 3 you get to explore the earthy Egyptian Saidi style. Develop power and presence as you dance with a stick or cane (assaya).

Classes are held on Wednesday evenings at Genisys Gym, 545 Kingsway, Miranda. Classes are also live-streamed on Zoom so you can attend from home.

Genisys Gym is part of the Sports Medicine Institute: a comprehensive health, wellness and performance centre. Term 1: Saturday 29 January – Thursday 1 April (9 week term)

Term 2: Monday 19 April – Saturday 26 June

Term 3: Monday 12 July – Saturday 18 September

Term 4: Tuesday 5 October - Monday 13 December

Dates generally follow NSW Public School terms. All terms are 10 weeks unless otherwise stated. Classes continue to run on public holidays during term dates. If you're unable to make it, come to one of the other locations or Zoom in another night to catch up!
